The Field of Histology

This website is designed to help you through the processes / techniques of histology.

Hello and Welcome.

I am Hans B Snyder, a certified histologist (HT) for the past 12 years. I’ve worked in the field for 18 years in research, clinical, academics and for myself (previous company owner). I know a fair amount of histology and would like to share it with you.

Everyone who asks me what histology is, I say Histology has been around for more than 150 years and not enough people know about it. Most of the baby boomers have retired leaving many histology related jobs open. There is a great need for histology technicians of all experience levels to step up and take empty jobs.

There is a lot of room for growth in this field, it’s like biology, it’s never ending. Histology is the study of tissue, plants, animals, fish, clams, worms, insects, humans and everything in-between. It’s a comprehensive field that encompasses organs, tissues types macro and microscopically, techniques of tissue slicing and dicing, staining, protein labeling, and the sciences behind them. Histologists are really the backbone of pathology. Without the role and work of the histologist, the pathologist cannot make the diagnosis.

In this website, I hope to give you a little bit of information, hopefully enough to help you on your journey in Histology.
